1/25/2010 Rachel Eisley has had a camera by her side since her early teens, learning the ropes in the darkroom before transitioning to digital photography in 2005.  Eisley received her B.A. in 2005 in Art History, with minors in Fine Art Photography and Russian Language from James Madison University, and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Art History at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts.

A native of Washington, DC, Eisley currently resides in Brooklyn, NY where she is continuing her freelance photography career and is in the process of raising funds to start an after-school arts program for underprivileged children in Brooklyn, NY in association with the Ocean Hill Art Sanctuary.

Eisley’s first solo photography exhibit, Recent/Past – Near/Far contains images created while she traveled in Florence, Venice, Orvieto, Italy; Jyväskylä, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; and Berlin, Germany this past summer paired with several images from previous editorial work. Recent/Past – Near/Far premiered at the Foxhall Gallery in Washington, DC from December, 4 2009 – January 18, 2010 and will be on display at the Ocean Hill Art Sanctuary from January 22, – February 20, 2010.

Eisley’s most current photographs are available for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the arts’ non-profit the Washington Arts Group. Eisley has been published bywww.BrightestYoungThings.com, The Georgetowner, and the Sun Gazette Newspaper, and has previously exhibited her work in The Foxhall Gallery, the Ocean Hill Art Sanctuary, the Ellipse Gallery (Arlington, VA) and Union Station (Washington, DC).  Eisley is available in the Washington, DC and New York City area for a variety of freelance assignments including portraiture in-studio and on-location, live music and event coverage, collection documentation, and photographic restoration.
