Since getting a crowd laughing, in the hilarious role of Baby Bear, during a fifth-grade production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Nathanael Theisen (pronounced Tyson) discovered a passion for acting.  Then, while attending Marquette High School, an all-male school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he realized it was the best way to spend time with girls.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Nathanael went on to study at the University of Minnesota, double-majoring in  Theatre and Russian.  While in school, he was involved in multiple plays, including Skriker by Caryl Churchill, Woyczek, by Georg Buchner, as well as several student written projects.
Upon graduation, Nathanael had a fantastic opportunity to use his Russian studies by working as an interpreter and assistant cameraman on a documentary film in Eastern Europe.  For a total of six months, he and an LA film crew traveled around Eastern Europe and the F.S.U., documenting contemporary Jewish life in the post-Soviet era for the film From River to Sea.

After his brief foray behind the camera, Nathanael moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles to continue working in film and building on his acting craft.  Since arriving, he has co-starred on CSI:NY as Mario Galanti, worked on a half-dozen short films, and returned to the stage in a local production of Lysistrata.  Most recently, he has worked on the cinenovel The Plunge of Icarus, and has just starred in the feature film Notes From the New World.
When Nathanael isn’t working on a film or prepping for the next project, he can be found in Silverlake, reading, painting, playing the guitar, enjoying the Los Angeles weather, or designing clothes and jewelry.
