Picture
1/11/10 Jill Evyn was born Jill Evyn Deutsch in Brownsville Texas on a rainy January afternoon. She was adopted by David & Roni Deutsch who brought her to Southern California, where she was raised. As a child, Jill was drawn to visual arts & performance, having a knack for putting on shows for whomever would watch with whomever she could grab as a cast. Jill went to Milken Community high school for 2 years before being accepted into the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a visual art student. While at LACHSA, Jill immersed herself in visual culture, & took a few acting classes.

After graduation, Jill moved north, to Santa Cruz where she attended the University of California. Santa Cruz. UCSC offered much to Jill: She was cast in plays & student films regularly, & the liberal arts education offered there also allowed her to take classes in psychology, sociology, film, & a millieu of other topics. In terms of theatre training, Jill worked very hard to gain the most of her education, studying everything from Stanisolvsky’s method to Growtowski’s physical theatre, to directing for the stage. Jill directed 2 stage pieces in her time at UCSC, Sarah Kane’s Phaedra’s Love & The National Theatre, & choreographed one performance art piece based on the autobiography of Malcolm X.

Half of her senior year was spent studying abroad in Italy at the Accademia dell’arte, where Jill was able to focus on physical comedy, clowning, mask work, & modern dance. Graduation came & went & Jill found herself drawn south again, back to Los Angeles to persue a career in film. Jills repretory of work has done nothing but grow since the move, with leading roles in feature films such as Photographic (directed by Timothy Whitfeld), & The Pretty Boys (directed by Everett Lewis), & numerous short & experimental films such as Spells (directed by Edward J. Anderson), RealTime (directed by Cameron McNall), & 1800Suicide (directed by Jeven Dovey). In 2010, Jill is gearing up to start shooting True Perfection (directed by S. Mohen), Late Night Lunch (directed by John Laben), & in pre production for a number of exciting, collaborative projects.
