Ana Lopes is a fiery Portuguese actress. She was born in Coimbra and raised in a beautiful Azorean island: San Miguel. Since she first performed in a Christmas play, in elementary school, she couldn’t stop organizing plays and directing short films with her friends, so, during high school, she decided to make a pact with her parents: if she graduated from University in the shortest time possible, they would make her wish of studying Acting in Hollywood come true.
She went to the Portuguese mainland in 2001 to study law at the University of Lisbon and to take her first steps in the acting business. She soon became the producer and one of the most admired actors of her University’s Theatre Company. She also took lots of acting classes and workshops and acted in several plays, student and professional short-films and features. Although she was doing what she loved, she found enough strength to keep studying and to succeed in her part of the deal. As soon as she got her law degree, in 2006, she went to Los Angeles, where she took the one-year Acting for Film Program at the New York Film Academy (Universal Studios). After school, she got a one-year work Visa and managed to perform at the Victory Theatre, the Dorie Theatre, The Lizard Theatre and the Bootleg Theatre and to work in several commercials, short-films, music videos, feature films, TV shows and documentaries in Hollywood during that year. At the end of 2008, she went back to Portugal, where she signed with one of the top Agencies and worked in a TV Show, some short-films and two big theatre productions.
Due to all her hard work and its noticeable results, The Government of the Azores has decided to help her get a new work Visa, so she can go back to Los Angeles, because she believes that’s where she should be in order to keep pursuing a successful acting career. She is still in Portugal waiting for her Visa and traveling back and forth between Lisbon (where the auditions and acting gigs are) and San Miguel, where she is producing and hosting her own TV show.
